Figure Legend Snippet: DNA binding mutant proteins display minimal loss of self-association in the yeast two-hybrid assay budding yeast strain Y187 was transformed with plasmids pGBT9 and pGAD424, or derivatives containing wild-type or mutant HsRAD52 sequences. Transformants were grown and whole cell extracts prepared. β-galactosidase specific activities, in Miller units were determined with extracts from a minimum of 10 independent cultures of each transformant. Mean specific activities and 95% confidence intervals are plotted. Fold differences from the pGBT9/pGAD424 negative control appear in boxes above the plots of the mean specific activities.
